簡介內容 | Founded in 1942, Tokai University has 13 schools and 72 courses on five campuses covering a wide range of academic fields of cultural, social and natural sciences together with its research institutes. The founding spirit and objectives of Tokai University are to contribute to human society, to foster active talented people and to arouse interest in our earth and a sense of responsibility for the future of mankind. Since its establishment, Tokai University has put emphasis on the "Lecture on Modern Civilization" in the belief that a university should not only provide knowledge and technology, but also be a place where the richness of humanity and creativity in each individual is cultivated. Tokai University in 1993 began offering educational courses based on a new curriculum whereby students can enhance their learning and cultivate their ability to identify and solve problems. Tokai University also introduced a semester system in 1997 and offered courses throughout a single school term rather than an entire school year. The goal of these changes was to enliven educational activities because students choose their own educational courses from a wider range of academic fields than before. Since its foundation, Tokai University has accepted students from abroad on the basis of the views of the founder that the education and interchange of young people from all over the world are important factors in promoting mutual understanding and world peace. Tokai University has concluded academic exchange agreements with 53 universities and research institutes in 25 countries. A wide range of international exchange activities are being pursued, from those on the academic front involving students, researchers, joint-research projects, and the exchange resources, to cultural and athletic exchange. Foreign students studying in our campuses number nearly 500 now. Tokai University provides its students opportunities to study abroad in 14 countries. Tokai University also provides a chance to go abroad by university’s boat. Every year in February and March, Tokai University Research and Training Vessel ‘Bosei Maru’ takes over 100 students and faculty from any department of the university on an overseas educational cruise.
